How to take care of your Pulse Bike on the beach?

There's nothing more fun than taking out your Pulse for a day at the beach. The Pulse's thick tires make it a perfect companion for riding in the sand. However, humidity, salt and sand from the beach can be your worst enemies when it comes to keeping your bike in perfect condition, and they can cause a lot of wear and tear or corrode the components.

Here you can find some tips that you should take into account to keep your Pulse in perfect condition after using it on the beach.

Tires

  1. Lowering tire pressure helps them have better traction in the sand. It is recommended to lower the PSI to 25-28 before riding in the sand. Be careful to get used to the difference in handling in the sand.

  2. Although Kenda's "fat tire" tires are excellent for uneven terrain, after a ride on the beach check your tires to ensure that no pieces of glass, shells or other impurities from the sand or beach have gotten into them.

Chain, Stars and Rays

  1. Salt and sand can be very damaging to the steel components of your Pulse. To prevent rust, it is recommended to clean them with vinegar, soap and warm water after each ride or at least once a week, depending on use.

  2. Make sure you remove sand from the corners of the stars and chain, otherwise they could dry out, rust, or make it difficult to use them correctly.

Lubrication

  1. In dry weather the chain and stars can dry out faster. Keep them lubricated with a basic product like WD-40 or another specialized bicycle lubricant.

Brakes

Sand can get between the brake disc and pads of your Pulse. This can cause noise when braking.

It is advisable to clean the discs with a cloth and soapy water to remove any sand that has gotten between the pads and the discs.

If you are extra careful or can't get the noise out of your pads, you can remove the pads and clean them with 120 grit sandpaper.

Battery

The battery cells of your Pulse are protected with the case. However, if your battery is exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, the cells can overheat. This can cause the battery to swell or reduce battery life.

Therefore, try to store your Pulse and/or the battery in a cool, shady place.
