How to install the Assisted Pedaling System (SPA)
What you will need
-
13mm socket or 13mm wrench to remove the seat (included in your tool kit)
-
A small Phillips screwdriver
-
Replacing the PAS sensor
Step by step instructions
-
Remove the seat of your Pulse to access the controller
-
Locate the SPA sensor wire (when you release it, it should be a mustard yellow color on the inside).
-
Undo it.
-
Begin pulling the SPA sensor cable out of the frame until the cable is completely out and is only connected to the sensor at the base of the shaft.
-
Lay the bike on its chain side.
-
Locate the small silver piece of metal that clips onto the SPA sensor.
-
Using a Phillips screwdriver, gently remove the two screws securing the SPA sensor to the frame.
-
Place the screws in a safe place.
-
Take out the original SPA sensor (it is a small black rectangle connected to the cable)
-
Put the new SPA sensor back into place.
-
Replace the two screws and tighten them securely.
-
Adjust the SPA disc so that it is right next to the SPA sensor. I should almost be playing.
-
Route the SPA sensor cable back through the frame, starting with the down tube. When you get to the top of that tube, pull it almost all the way so there is still a little slack in the wire next to the SPA sensor. Then insert the cable through the top tube towards the controller.
-
Lift the bike and pull it all the way. Reconnect it to the SPA sensor cable on the controller.
-
Put the seat back.
