Safety before the first trip
Pulses are powerful ebikes and should always be used with the necessary care. Below you'll find some recommendations from the Pulse team to ensure your first trip (and every subsequent one) is safe, comfortable, and fun. We want to make sure you always have the best experience on and off the road on your new electric bike!
At Pulse, we always recommend that secondary roads or roads made specifically for bicycles (cycle paths) be used as much as possible. However, once you feel comfortable, respecting traffic regulations and taking the necessary care, you can begin to move through traffic on non-high-speed streets.
Before your first trip
We know you're eager to test your Pulse. But we ask that you do not use it until you are familiar with all the elements and components.
-
Make sure you have completed all the steps in our assembly video.
-
Recheck the handlebar to see if it has slid below the insertion lines.
-
Take a look at your entity's traffic regulations, and make sure you have all the necessary safety accessories.
-
With the Pulse turned off, familiarize yourself with all the components and drivers.
-
Do a security check.
-
For your first trip, choose a quiet, flat area, without obstacles, cars or people. Start your journey with Pedal Assist (SPA) level 1 and the gear lever at 4. Once you're familiar, start experimenting with the SPA levels, throttle and gears.
-
Once you get used to it, you can start using your Pulse on bike paths, dirt roads, or even in traffic.
Safely using your Pulse
Once you complete the Pulse pre-ride check, you'll be ready to ride your Pulse. Remember that Pulses have more power than a normal bicycle and need extra care when you are riding or in traffic.
Here are some tips on how to ride safely on your Pulse so you don't lose Momentum.
-
While stationary or when rolling, you only need to lightly press the accelerator. If you do not regulate the use of the accelerator, you run the risk of getting hurt.
-
Familiarize yourself with local traffic laws. Respect these laws as well as traffic lights and signs.
-
Stay alert and watch out for hazards, including vehicles, cyclists, walkers or animals.
-
Always roll close to the sidewalk and in a single line. Avoid getting into blind spots of cars. If you need to pass a cyclist or walker, always let them know before doing so.
-
Use hand signals to turn and take extra care at intersections or roundabouts.
-
When you brake, use equal pressure on both hands.
-
Respect pedestrian preference.
-
Do not drink alcohol or drugs before riding.
-
Don't look at your cell phone or answer calls.
-
Be considerate when parking and never block driveways.
-
Take care of your Pulse and be sure to always chain it when you park it, and especially if you lose sight of it.
-
Wear safety or reflective clothing whenever you use your Pulse in rainy conditions or at night.
-
Avoid riding in salt water to avoid damaging the components of your Pulse.
-
Always carry your identification, cell phone and basic repair tools.
