Myths about Electric Bicycles
Electric bicycles have revolutionized cycling to become a global trend, with considerable development in countries such as Holland, Switzerland or Japan. However, there are still some doubts about its convenience, use or sustainability.
Below we share 5 lies (or errors of perception) and a truth about electric bicycles.
1. YOU DON'T EXERCISE.
Lie! You don't sweat, if you don't want to sweat, it's just a matter of activating the pedal assist or using the convenient accelerator. However, it has been shown that exercise on an e-bike is comparable to normal cycling; people who have an electric bicycle travel more kilometers and are more frequent than regular cyclists.
E-bikes make longer trips more accessible, and since fatigue is less on an electric bike, people are excited to use it every day.
2. YOU DO NOT PEDAL.
Mistake , some electric bikes, like the Pulse, help you pedal when you need a little more force or make pedaling easier so that it is smoother.
The Pulse have three modes of use:
- Normal pedaling: Use your Pulse like a normal bicycle, without motor assistance or acceleration. Especially useful if you run out of battery or if you want to exercise a little more and measure your resistance.
- Assisted pedaling: Pedal with an additional boost provided by the electric motor. When you turn on pedal assist, you can decide between 5 levels of assistance and the motor will respond with corresponding energy to help you.
- Thumb Throttle: Just use the thumb throttle to take a breather and relax, or when facing a difficult climb.
3. WHEN THE BATTERY IS EMPTY YOU CAN NO LONGER USE IT.
Completely false! You'll never get stuck on a Pulse far from home, even if the battery runs out completely, and this is very rare due to the great range of the Pulse, it's very simple: just keep pedaling as you would with any other bike and at some stop you can connect the battery to a current of light while you have a coffee or go with your friends for a beer.
4. YOU CAN'T USE THEM IN THE RAIN.
We understand why people might think this. However, the fact that they are electric does not mean that they cannot get wet.
The Pulse are designed for any type of climate. You can use them while it is raining, or in humid environments. Even so, we remind you of certain care related to the battery and the connections, therefore when you have the opportunity, dry all the electrical parts with a cloth. Here we leave you some tips for riding in the rain.
5. THEY ALSO POLLUTE
Some studies claim that electric bicycles are positioned as the fourth means of transportation with the lowest environmental impact, due to the amount of carbon emitted per kilometer traveled. Traveling to work by car accounts for around 65% of trips, while 25% of people who commute to work live within 8 kilometers of their work area.
It's a quick and easy ebike trip, and as e-bikes are classed as zero-emission vehicles, it reduces pollution in our urban areas, not to mention reducing traffic.
Furthermore, although batteries can pollute the soil, various companies have begun to recycle them and degrade their components to further reduce their environmental impact and that of electric vehicles in general.
Truth: They are a unique and fun means of transportation.
Electric bicycles are a simple and fun means of transportation that offer great advantages and allow users a healthier, more exciting and efficient lifestyle.
To improve your experience and dare to try Pulse, or even other electric bicycles, you must forget about any myths.
