Tips for rain on your electric bike

Riding in the rain is one of the most exciting and liberating experiences that your electric bicycle can give you.

There is no better adventure than a cloudy day, a good playlist and your Pulse with a full battery. With proper care, Pulse electric bikes can ride safely in the rain.

We leave you some tips to move around this season in a comfortable, fun and safe way.

  1. Are the Pulse waterproof?

The Pulse, like conventional bicycles, are completely resistant to rainwater, so you will have no problem using it during the season. Just make sure not to submerge the electrical components in any puddles or similar, and be especially careful with salt water. There will never be a need to stop or “wrap” your battery or other components in plastic. Just pedal and enjoy the ride.

Keep in mind that water can increase braking time or cause brake pads to rattle. Don't be scared, as soon as they dry and/or you can clean them the sound will stop. We recommend that you take this into consideration and always be extremely careful when riding in the rain so that it is always a fun and pleasant ride.

  2. Buy a waterproof jacket

If you don't have it yet, what are you waiting for? You can buy a waterproof jacket or a light raincoat for when the rain comes. We recommend that you always have it on hand on your electric bicycle.

  3. Don't turn sharply (we learned that one the hard way)

If you have fallen making a sharp turn you know what we are talking about. There is nothing worse than being thrown off because you want to make a turn that is too tight, and the rain only increases that danger, so prepare yourself to make the widest turns, always making the pertinent signals to the vehicles or people around you.

  4. Plan a safe and convenient route

Sometimes we travel longer routes for the pleasure of riding in the Pulse. In the rainy season, however, prioritize places that you know will remain dry (and where there are fewer potholes), as well as the closest road to reach your destination.

  5. Stay away from puddles

We have already mentioned it: submerging the components of your bicycle (especially for prolonged periods) can cause damage, sometimes irreparable, to the components, so we recommend avoiding all potholes or flooded areas.

  6. Have a Basic Emergency Kit on hand

A good practical policy, even for everyday life, is to bring a basic emergency kit in your Pulse. We recommend a backpack like this one , where you can carry basic items such as band-aids, bandages, or a little alcohol. We hope you never need it, but you will be very relieved to have it with you in case of an accident.

  7. Use fenders

Although the Pulse also fascinates us without mudguards, it is essential that during the rainy season you always wear the mudguard to prevent you from getting wet and to take care of your electrical components.

  8. Slow down

We know well the adrenaline explosion of riding at full speed with your best playlist playing at full volume. However, remember to slow down when it rains. Your brakes will be wet and your reaction time will increase. You never know when you or someone else won't brake in time or skid into a puddle of water. Stay safe.

  9. Increase your visibility

It is essential to use your lights during the rainy season as they will give you better visibility and make it easier for others to see you. You can even purchase additional lights to navigate safely in low-light environments.

Another way to increase your visibility is to wear phosphorescent or luminescent rain-resistant clothing, or clothing with reflective materials.

  10. What should you do after riding in the rain?

Although the Pulse are waterproof, it is advisable to take some basic care when you arrive at your destination after it rains or when your electric bike gets wet. To help you, we made a specific blog on that topic. Enjoy and keep rolling.
